About This Framed Print
This Unsung Heroes framed motivational print features a group photograph of the Tuskegee Airmen, with a message about exceeding expectations when little recognition is given. The image is double matted and set in a black frame, finished and ready to display.
The message printed on the poster reads:
The ultimate judge of a person's character is their ability to exceed expectations when little recognition or praise is given.
The History Behind the Image
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Training began at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama in 1941, and nearly 1,000 pilots earned their wings by 1946. The 99th Fighter Squadron and the 332nd Fighter Group, commanded by Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., flew combat missions over North Africa and Europe, and the red-painted tails of their P-51 Mustangs earned them the name "Red Tails." In 2007, the Tuskegee Airmen were collectively awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.
About the Founder
Founder William Armstead built Motivational Product Depot, originally D'azi Productions, around the belief that history can motivate. Each poster in his collection connects a single word, such as courage, vision, or strength, to a moment or a person from Black history, so the lesson lands every time someone walks past it.
