Section 4: Cookies, Pixels, Session Recording, and Chat
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies on our site. When these tools are active, they collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, products you view or add to your cart, purchases, your IP address, and device and browser identifiers, and send it to the company that provides the tool. The tools we use fall into these categories:
- Essential: required for the site to work, such as keeping items in your cart, checkout, security, fraud prevention, and remembering your privacy choices. These cannot be turned off.
- Analytics: Google Analytics and Shopify analytics help us understand which pages and products are viewed and how the site performs.
- Advertising: the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram), the TikTok Pixel, and Google Ads tags help us measure our ads and show you relevant ads on those platforms and on other websites, based on your activity on our site. These companies may combine this information with other information they have about you under their own privacy policies.
- Session recording: Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use our pages, such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and the pages and content displayed, so we can find and fix problems with our site, including accessibility problems. Clarity is designed to mask text you type into form fields. Session recording does not run on our Shopify checkout pages.
- Email and text: Klaviyo tags help us see whether our messages are opened and which links are clicked, and connect site activity to our email and text lists when you have signed up.
- Site features: tools such as our product review and wishlist features may set cookies so those features work.
Live chat: when you use the chat feature on our site, the messages you send, along with your name or email if you provide them and basic information about your visit, are recorded and stored by our chat provider so that we can read and respond to them. By using chat, you agree to this. Please do not send payment card numbers or other sensitive information through chat.
Your cookie choices: depending on your location, we may show a cookie banner that lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies before they are used. Where we show the banner, you can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences option on our site. Anyone can opt out of advertising cookies and pixels on our Your Privacy Choices page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
Section 5: How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only as described below:
- Shopify: our store is hosted on Shopify, which processes information to run our store and checkout, prevent fraud, and provide related services. Shopify's handling of your information is described in the Shopify Privacy Policy. If you shop through the Shop app, Shopify also acts under its own privacy policy for that app.
- Service providers: companies that help us operate our business, such as payment processors, shipping carriers and shipping software, Klaviyo (email and text marketing), our live chat provider, Consentmo (cookie consent and privacy requests), our product review and wishlist providers, Microsoft Clarity, and our accounting and IT providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners: Meta, TikTok, and Google, as described in Section 4.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect our rights, customers, or others, including to prevent fraud.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or similar transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your consent: in any other case where you direct us to share your information.
"Sale" and "sharing" of personal information: We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising cookies and pixels may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising," under some state privacy laws. In the past 12 months, the categories of information that may have been disclosed this way are identifiers (such as IP address, device IDs, and cookie IDs), internet activity (such as pages and products viewed), and commercial information (such as items added to cart and purchases), disclosed to Meta, TikTok, and Google. You can opt out at any time as described in Section 6.
Section 6: Your Choices
- Opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising: visit our Your Privacy Choices page.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your information and targeted advertising for that browser.
- Marketing emails: click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email, or contact us. We will still send messages about your orders.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any marketing text to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase.
- Cookies: use our cookie settings or your browser settings, as described in Section 4.
Section 7: Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, and receive a copy in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we have collected from you.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable.
- Appeal our decision if we deny your request.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
We honor these requests for all U.S. customers, not only residents of states that require it.
How to make a request: email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request," or call 678-916-6545. To opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, use our Your Privacy Choices page.
Verification: to protect your information, we will ask you to confirm details such as your email address and a recent order before we act on access, correction, or deletion requests. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of authorization and ask you to verify your identity directly.
Response time: we respond within 45 days, and we will tell you if we need up to 45 more days as permitted by law. Some information may be kept after a deletion request where the law requires or allows it, such as order and tax records.
Appeals: if we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We will respond within the time required by your state's law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
Discount offers: we may offer a discount, such as a percentage off your first order, when you join our email or text list. You provide your email address or phone number in exchange for the offer. We value this information based on the discount provided and the expected benefit of sending you marketing. You can unsubscribe at any time.
California "Shine the Light": California residents may ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing in the prior year. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Section 8: Visitors Outside the United States
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, we process your information to perform our contract with you (such as fulfilling orders), based on our legitimate interests (such as improving our store and preventing fraud), to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent (such as for marketing and non-essential cookies). You may have the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Section 9: Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 or use it for targeted advertising.
Section 10: Sensitive Information and Artificial Intelligence
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, such as government ID numbers, precise geolocation, health information, or biometric data, and we ask that you not send it to us. We do not use your personal information to train large language models or other generative artificial intelligence.
Section 11: How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. For example, we keep order and transaction records as long as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes, and we keep marketing contact information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Section 12: How We Protect Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted checkout through Shopify. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account password confidential.
Section 13: Third-Party Websites and Apps
Our Services may link to or include content from other websites, apps, and social media platforms. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.
Section 14: Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date, and if we make material changes, we will provide additional notice as required by law.
