Description

Destiny is not luck. Destiny is a decision. Rosa Parks did not wake up planning to change the country; she simply refused to accept less than she deserved. Hang this framed Rosa Parks piece where you make your daily decisions and remember that small choices, made with conviction, can move the world.

About This Framed Print

This Destiny framed motivational print features civil rights icon Rosa Parks seated on a Montgomery city bus, paired with a message about how our choices shape our future. The image is double matted and set in a black frame, finished and ready to display.

The message printed on the poster reads:

The choices you make in life ultimately determine your destiny.

The History Behind the Image

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, a seamstress and longtime NAACP activist, was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. Her arrest launched the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lasted 381 days and brought a young Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to national prominence. After the Supreme Court upheld the ruling against bus segregation, the boycott ended, and on December 21, 1956, Parks was photographed riding near the front of a newly desegregated Montgomery bus. That widely published photo is often mistaken for an image of her 1955 arrest, but no photograph of the arrest itself is known to exist.
