About This Framed Set
This framed triptych brings together three motivational posters: Destiny, featuring Rosa Parks; Dedication, featuring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. behind bars in Birmingham; and Achievement, featuring Thurgood Marshall. The three posters are matted together in one black frame, so the set displays as a single piece of wall art.
The three messages read:
Destiny: The choices you make in life ultimately determine your destiny.
Dedication: Your self-sacrificing devotion to your purpose in life and your unwavering faith will carry you through times of difficulty.
Achievement: Those who refuse to place limitations upon themselves will always succeed.
The History Behind the Images
Rosa Parks's arrest on December 1, 1955, sparked the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led campaigns across the South and was jailed in Birmingham several times; the well-known photograph of him behind bars there was taken in 1967, when he served a sentence stemming from the 1963 Birmingham Campaign. Thurgood Marshall argued and won Brown v. Board of Education in 1954 and in 1967 became the first Black Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
