Founded in 1913, the Baltimore Black Sox became one of the six charter members of the Eastern Colored League in 1923 and played at Maryland Baseball Park, a ballpark the club built and owned in South Baltimore. In 1924 the park hosted two games of the first Colored World Series. Five years later, Jud Wilson, Frank Warfield, Dick Lundy and Oliver Marcell formed the famed "Million Dollar Infield" and led Baltimore to the 1929 American Negro League championship. Satchel Paige pitched for the club in 1930, and Leon Day began his career there in 1934. In 2007, the Baltimore Orioles wore Black Sox uniforms to honor the franchise.
Officially licensed. A portion of every purchase benefits the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, helping preserve these stories for future generations.
