"Let them praise his name in the dance... Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs."
Psalm 149:3; Psalm 150:4 (KJV)
Somebody ought to praise Him. When the choir has sung its last note and words are no longer enough, there is still a praise that rises from the feet, the arms, and the whole body bent toward heaven. David danced before the Lord with all his might, and he did not stop to ask who was watching. This Christmas, we lift up the same King with the same abandon, because the child born in Bethlehem is still worthy of every bit of it. Keep Christ in Christmas, and let your praise be seen.
As We Celebrate puts that praise on the front of every card. Three Black praise dancers move together across a deep red sky scattered with snowflakes. On the left, a dancer in a wine-colored tunic and gold leaf headband braces the woman beside her at the waist. At the center, a dancer in emerald green arches into a full backbend, eyes closed and face lifted upward, her long hair falling behind her. On the right, a dancer in royal blue kneels low with a silver tiara in her hair, reaching up to hold her sister steady. All three wear white long-sleeve tops under flowing white skirts, their bare feet planted in fresh snow, while soft clouds of color drift behind them. Across the top, "As We Celebrate the Season..." is stamped in gold foil script.
Praise in Motion
Dance has been part of worship since Bible times. The Psalms call God's people to praise Him in the dance, and when the ark of the covenant came home to Jerusalem, David danced before the Lord in front of the whole city (2 Samuel 6:14). In many Black churches today, praise dance ministries carry that tradition forward, turning hymns and gospel songs into movement during Sunday service, Christmas programs, and Easter celebrations. This card honors the women who give that gift, and the way they hold each other up while they do it.
Inside the Card
The left inside panel carries the angels' song from the night Jesus was born, printed over a soft sketch of holly, pine boughs, poinsettias, and stars:
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:14
On the right, three gold foil snowflakes sit above this handwritten-style greeting:
Know that He is worthy to be praised.
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
The greeting echoes Psalm 18:3, "I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised," and leaves plenty of open space below for your own note.
Send As We Celebrate to your praise team, your dance ministry leader, the choir, the first lady, and every sister who has ever worshipped with her whole heart and her whole body. Each card mails in a white envelope lined in rich red foil and closes with a gold seal, a festive finish that matches the deep red sky on the cover.
