Does your Christmas tree have Skegee pride? The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers Spinning Bulb Christmas Ornament dresses the tree in crimson and gold, with the interlocking TU and a leaping Golden Tiger set on a medallion that turns freely inside the bulb. One light touch and the Tiger is on the move.
Crimson and Gold From Cap to Tip
The bulb follows a classic finial shape, rising from a pointed tip to a gold cap in alternating crimson and gold swirl stripes. A raised crimson band circles its middle, embossed with a gold geometric lattice and edged in gold on both sides. At the center sits a white medallion inside a gold ring, carrying the crimson TU monogram outlined in gold with a Golden Tiger leaping through it. It is mounted on small pins at the top and bottom so it rotates within its window. A gold cord loops through the cap for hanging, and the ornament comes in a plastic storage box so it can be packed away after the season and brought back out every December.
From a One-Room Shanty to Your Tree
Tuskegee University opened on July 4, 1881, as the Tuskegee Normal School for Colored Teachers, the work of Lewis Adams, a formerly enslaved tinsmith and community leader, and George Campbell. Booker T. Washington, recruited from Hampton Institute, taught the first class of 30 students in a shanty on the grounds of Butler Chapel AME Zion Church and led the school until 1915. In 1896 he brought botanist George Washington Carver to head the agriculture department, and during World War II the Tuskegee Airmen trained here before flying into history. The campus is now a National Historic Site, the motto still points to Knowledge, Leadership, and Service, and every Thanksgiving the Turkey Day Classic against Alabama State keeps one of the oldest rivalries in Black college football alive.
A Christmas Gift for the Golden Tiger Family
Hang it on the family tree, a dorm or office tabletop tree, or a holiday wreath. It makes a stocking stuffer for a Tuskegee graduate living far from Macon County, a student home for winter break, a new graduate heading into the world, or the families who spend Thanksgiving at the Turkey Day Classic. For a full crimson and gold holiday display, pair it with our Tuskegee University Golden Tigers Proud Santa Claus Figurine.
