Does your Christmas tree bleed blue like you do? The Tennessee State University Tigers Spinning Bulb Christmas Ornament wraps the tree in TSU blue and white, with the snarling Tiger head and tsu wordmark set on a medallion that turns freely inside the bulb. One light touch and Big Blue starts spinning.
Big Blue, Trimmed in Gold
The bulb follows a classic finial shape, rising from a pointed tip to a gold-toned cap in alternating royal blue and white swirl stripes. A raised blue band circles its middle, embossed with a gold geometric lattice and edged in gold on both sides. At the center sits a white medallion inside a gold ring, carrying the blue TSU Tiger head above the school's wordmark. It is mounted on small pins at the top and bottom so it rotates within its window. The ornament comes in a plastic storage box so it can be packed away after the season and brought back out every December.
From North Nashville to Your Tree
Tennessee State University opened its doors on June 19, 1912, as the Agricultural and Industrial State Normal School, welcoming 247 students to a campus near the Cumberland River in Nashville. It grew into the state's only public HBCU and a land-grant university guided by a three-word motto: Think. Work. Serve. Coach Ed Temple's Tigerbelles turned TSU into an Olympic powerhouse, and Tigerbelle Wilma Rudolph became the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympics in 1960. The Aristocrat of Bands was the first HBCU band to appear on national television and, in 1961, the first to march in a presidential inaugural parade. Alumni such as Oprah Winfrey and Olympic champion Ralph Boston carry the Big Blue name around the world.
A Christmas Gift for Big Blue
At TSU, the saying goes, our blood runs blue, and this ornament lets the tree say it too. Hang it on the family tree, a dorm or office tabletop tree, or a holiday wreath. It makes a stocking stuffer for a TSU graduate living far from Nashville, a student home for winter break, a new graduate heading into the world, or the relatives who never miss Homecoming on John A. Merritt Boulevard. For a full blue and white holiday display, pair it with our Tennessee State University Tigers HBCU College Santa Claus Figurine or the Tennessee State University Tigers Proud Santa Claus Figurine.
