Does your Christmas tree carry itself like a Morehouse Man? The Morehouse College Maroon Tigers Spinning Bulb Christmas Ornament dresses the tree in maroon and white, with the bold Morehouse M set on a medallion that turns freely inside the bulb. One light touch and the M spins, a quiet bit of House pride that guests notice right away.
Maroon and White, Trimmed in Gold
The bulb follows a classic finial shape, rising from a pointed tip to a gold cap in alternating maroon and white swirl stripes. A raised maroon band circles its middle, embossed with a gold geometric lattice and edged in gold on both sides. At the center sits a white medallion inside a gold ring, carrying the maroon Morehouse M above the college name. It is mounted on small pins at the top and bottom so it rotates within its window. A gold cord loops through the cap for hanging, and the ornament comes in a plastic storage box so it can be packed away after the season and brought back out every December.
From a Church Basement to Your Tree
Morehouse College began on February 14, 1867, as the Augusta Institute, founded by the Rev. William Jefferson White in the basement of Springfield Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, the oldest independent Black church in the nation. In 1879 the school moved to Atlanta's Friendship Baptist Church as the Atlanta Baptist Seminary, settled in the West End in 1885, and took the name Morehouse College in 1913. Its motto, Et Facta Est Lux, means "And there was light," and the light has traveled far: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., filmmaker Spike Lee, actor Samuel L. Jackson, and Olympic champion Edwin Moses all walked the campus as Morehouse Men.
A Christmas Gift for the House
Hang it on the family tree, a dorm or office tabletop tree, or a holiday wreath. It makes a stocking stuffer for a Morehouse graduate living far from Atlanta, a student home for winter break, a new graduate heading into the world, or the families who never miss Spelhouse Homecoming. For a full maroon and white holiday display, pair it with our Morehouse College Maroon Tigers HBCU College Santa Claus Figurine.
