Design Details
The crown is knit in FAMU green, with a wide orange band framed by two white stripes. FAMU is knit into the band in green collegiate letters on the front, and RATTLERS wraps around the back. The ribbed orange cuff folds up to show an embroidered Rattler head patch in green and orange, jaws open and white fangs bared. A full pom blends orange and green yarn.
About Florida A&M University
Florida A&M opened in Tallahassee on October 3, 1887, as the State Normal College for Colored Students, with 15 students and two instructors. Today it is Florida's only public HBCU, and its alumni include Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek, surgeon and cancer researcher Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall Jr., Florida Supreme Court Justice Joseph W. Hatchett, collectors Bernard and Shirley Kinsey and Olympic champion Bob Hayes.
