One For The Road by Alix Beaujour is a work of art depicting a black woman in a blue bonnet and pink apron handing her buffalo soldier a pie as he prepares to set off. Additionally, his daughter and dog stand by the mother outside their house to see him off.
Alix Beaujour was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti, and moved to the United States in 1978 where he now resides in Dallas, Texas. Beaujour mastered the use of color and imagery with private study in Haiti and a short stay in Paris France. Alix is an extremely versatile and talented artist who has chosen to utilize various mediums to depict the life-like folklore of the African, West Indian and American Cultures. Alix Beaujour's most recent conception has been experimentation with pastel. He finds this medium more expressive than oil and uses it to portray the beauty of women in the diversity of roles they play. He is sensitive to detail and therefore makes use of bold colors, dimension and expression to make his subjects come alive.
