Ernest Eugene Barnes Jr. was born July 15, 1938, in a poor section ("the bottom") of Durham, North Carolina. His father, Ernest Barnes Sr., worked as a shipping clerk at Liggett Myers Tobacco Company and his mother, Fannie Mae Geer, was employed as a domestic for Frank Fuller Jr., a wealthy Southern attorney who would guide Barnes into the world of art.

A Beautiful piece of art
A Beautiful piece of art that details how a church can get behind the choir and have the entire congregation going. We didn't all the purple until we had it professionally frame. It is in the process of doing this now, but the framing really brings it out. We had the entire frame shop personal coming up to see what was drawing everyone attention including many customers. Thank you and the artist for it. WE WILL BE GETTING MORE PIECES FROM YOU.
