They will try to make you quit. Refuse. Persistent people are not the ones who never get knocked down; they are the ones who stand back up with their fist in the air. The man in this photograph wears his heritage around his neck and his determination on his face. Keep pushing. Stay stubborn about your dreams.
About This Poster
This Persistent motivational poster features a photograph of a Black man dressed in black, wearing an African medallion and raising his fist in the Black power salute, with the dictionary definition of persistent printed below. The open edition poster is printed on paper and ready for framing or display as is.
The definition printed on the poster reads:
per*sist*ent adj. 1. refusing to relent; continuing, esp. in face of opposition, interference, etc.; stubborn; persevering 2. continuing to exist; lasting without change.
The History Behind the Image
The raised fist became one of the defining symbols of the Black Power movement of the 1960s and 1970s, a sign of unity, pride, and resistance. Medallions bearing the shape of Africa became popular in the same era as an expression of connection to the continent and to the African diaspora.
