Description

Every October, Greensboro fills up for the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, and every December the blue and gold comes home for Christmas. The North Carolina A&T University Aggies Proud Santa Claus Figurine is a 12-inch Black Santa Claus in a royal blue knit sweater with a gold Aggie bulldog stitched across his chest, gold pants trimmed in white faux fur, and an AGGIES pennant held high. Aggie Pride never takes a holiday, and neither does this Santa.

Santa in Aggie Blue and Gold

A royal blue stocking cap with a thick white fur brim and a gold bell at the tip frames Santa's sculpted brown face, rosy cheeks, and full, curly black beard. The gold bulldog head fills the front of his blue sweater, and gold pants with white fur cuffs drop to black boots. One hand holds a blue and white pennant showing the bulldog in a spiked collar beside AGGIES lettering, along with a boxwood wreath dotted with blue and white berries. The other carries his naughty and nice list on a long cloth scroll. A gold twisted cord holds the green velvet toy sack over his shoulder, filled with a plush teddy bear tied in a blue ribbon, a frosted mini Christmas tree, a small gold horn, and blue and white berry picks.

The Legacy Behind the Aggie

The North Carolina legislature established A&T in 1891 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race. Classes began at Shaw University in Raleigh, and in 1893 the school moved to Greensboro on land and funds donated by local citizens. Guided by the motto Mens et Manus, or Mind and Hand, A&T has grown into the largest public HBCU in the nation.

Aggies changed history on February 1, 1960, when freshmen Ezell Blair Jr., Franklin McCain, Joseph McNeil, and David Richmond took seats at the Woolworth's lunch counter in downtown Greensboro and launched the sit-in movement. Their fellow Aggies include the Rev. Jesse Jackson, class of 1964, a quarterback and student body president; astronaut and physicist Ronald McNair, class of 1971; and jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson. The Blue and Gold Marching Machine carries that pride onto the field every fall.

Christmas Decor for the Aggie Family

Give this African American Santa Claus figurine a spot on the mantel, a bookshelf, a dorm desk, or the entry table where holiday guests come in. It makes a Christmas gift for an A&T graduate living far from Greensboro, a student home for winter break, or the family that never misses GHOE. Pair him with the NC A&T College Santa in the fur-trimmed coat for a two-Santa Aggie display.

The HBCU Proud Santas collection gives a hand-finished Black Santa Claus a campus wardrobe: a knit sweater with the school logo, a pennant, and pants and cap in school colors. Sculpted resin features pair with knit, felt, and faux-fur clothing, a berry wreath, a toy sack of gifts, and a scroll of names. Each figure is made for the alumni and families who want their Christmas decor to show where they belong.
