Kiwi McDowell was born and raised in upstate New York and now works from Atlanta. She started as a doll maker, and when the sewing finally wore her out, she refused to make one more stitch and started drawing the dolls instead. That was 2002. She has been at it ever since, putting her women on calendars, mugs, magnets, tote bags, and handbags, and her "Living My Blessed Life" latte mug made it onto the Jennifer Hudson Show. She calls the whole enterprise FUNtional art for her sistahs.
