Description
"If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." These words, whispered in desperate faith, changed everything.

Edwin Lester captures one of Scripture's most intimate moments of healing in "If Only: The Hem of His Garment." The artwork portrays a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years, spending all her living upon physicians who could not heal her. Yet her faith never wavered. In the crowded streets, she pressed through the multitude, financially broken and physically broken with singular faith-filled determination: if only she could touch the hem of His garment.

The painting brings to life the moment described in Luke 8:43-48, where faith becomes action, and belief transforms into a healing touch. As Christ walked through the pressing crowd, this unnamed woman reached out in her moment of greatest need. The instant her fingers touched the hem of His garment, she was made whole. Jesus, perceiving that virtue had gone out of Him, stopped and asked, "Who touched me?"

When the woman came trembling and fell down before Him, she declared before all the people why she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. Jesus spoke words that echo through centuries: "Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace."

Lester's masterful technique renders this biblical narrative with emotional depth and historical authenticity. The woman's posture conveys both her physical suffering and her spiritual desperation. At the same time, the composition draws viewers into this sacred encounter. Soft, muted tones create an atmosphere of reverence, allowing the central act of faith to resonate with quiet power.

This artwork serves as a daily reminder that no situation is beyond the reach of faith, no suffering too great for divine compassion. Available on premium paper or canvas in your choice of framed or unframed presentations, with canvas options including stretched or unstretched formats.

The generous 18x36-inch dimensions allow Lester's detailed brushwork and emotional storytelling to create an impactful focal point in homes, churches, prayer rooms, or offices.
