Description

FLORIDA knit down one end, A&M down the other, and the founding year split between them: 18 on one side, 87 on the other. This Florida A&M University scarf wraps FAMU orange and green around a black knit body, with a Rattler head ready to strike at each end. It makes an easy gift for the Rattler who moved somewhere colder than Tallahassee, and a warm way to rep your school at homecoming and every other occasion when you want to show FAMU pride.

Design Details

A black center panel runs the full length, framed by green pinstripes and wide orange borders. FLORIDA appears in orange letters outlined in green on one end, and A&M appears in green letters outlined in orange on the other. White numerals 18 and 87 sit near the bottom of each end, just above a Rattler head knit in green with orange detailing, and black and orange fringe finishes both ends.

About Florida A&M University

FAMU traces its start to October 3, 1887, when the State Normal College for Colored Students opened in Tallahassee with 15 students and two instructors. Renamed Florida Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1909 and elevated to university status in 1953, it remains Florida's only public HBCU. Its alumni include Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall Jr., the first African American president of the American Cancer Society; Joseph W. Hatchett, the first Black justice on the Florida Supreme Court; jazz saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley; and tennis champion Althea Gibson.
