On June 5, 1969, not only did my mother give birth to me, she gave birth to a gift that was placed on the inside of me. The gift of Art was created.
Being in art throughout high school, helped me to have a way of escape to express myself on paper; not realizing this form of expression was turning into a therapeutic session for me.
Not having any formal training, my own style has been developed. The moment I sit on the floor and grab my paints, I pull my canvas close to me; throughout creating each particular piece, I find myself having to look at it in all different directions. I feel a sense of having to convey what's on the inside of me to the canvas, I realize I must feel each piece and once I'm finished a relationship has been established and I have completed what I set out to do. I not only want my paintings to be beautiful, but I want them to be able to set the atmosphere where ever it's placed to hang. Faith, Joy, color and soul are most of the themes found in each painting, which is what I believe are the medicines of life.
