The artwork is by Sylvia "Gbaby" Cohen, an artist and entrepreneur celebrated for her bold, tender portraits of Black women. A graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton, she launched her Gbaby line in the early 2000s by hand-painting handbags that filled a gap she saw in fashion, where images of beautiful Black women were missing. Her work has since reached audiences at festivals including Essence and the Pan African Film Festival, and she created the logo for BET's Black Girls Rock. Her signature pairs vivid color with affirming messages, encouraging women to write, study, pray, and speak life over themselves.
