Description

This series was inspired by the Underground Rail Road and the symbolism of the pinwheel (Meaning to turns one's luck around). I used children to reflect a bright future for things to come. They are meant to inspire and to allow the veiwer to reflect on times as a child growing up. - Jerome T. White

This work of art depicts a young African American girl standing a field of cotton holding a pinwheel.

Jerome T. White

Jerome T. White was born in Cleveland, Ohio where as a child he developed a strong interest in art. Later in life, he studied art at Tuskegee University, obtained a Bachelors in Fine Art from Baldwin-Wallace College and received his Master's from Case Western Reserve University. Jerome T. White considers Winslow Homer, Dr. John Biggers and Charles White as the artists that primarily shaped his style and influeced his artwork the most. As a result, he uses a lot of spiritual symbolism to showcase and feature social and historical messages and themes. Currently, Jerome T. White is attempting to reach a new plateau with his designs and ideas. He is currently using more mixed media, acrylics and oil pastels in his paintings.

Beautiful

We were so pleased with this print and the meaning behind it. We adopted a little African American baby girl to add to our family of 2 boys. We feel it is vital that she knows her history. This print hangs in her bedroom.. We are beyond blessed to have her in our life and forever grateful to her birth mom for giving us the privilege to raise. Your site of full of rich and beautiful art work.. M. Buckley
