Description

A high quality limited edition figurine designed by the world renown artist Thomas Blackshear. It depicts an African American Jesus adorned in white and light gold garments who is outstretching his hand to the viewer. This figurine is entitled "Lord, I Hold the Key" and is inspired by Mattew 16:19 that reads: 

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

This ethnic sculpture measures 13 inches in height and weights approximately 5lbs. It is masterfully crafted out of resin, hand painted and accented with gold tones. This Black religious sculpture was designed to inspire and remind us all that it is Jesus that holds the key to everlasting life and redemption.

Thomas Blackshear

Artist Thomas Blackshear II, the son of an air force captain, was born in Waco, Texas, and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. "Drawing was all I ever liked to do," says Blackshear. "While all the other guys were playing baseball or basketball, I was in my house, drawing." Thomas Blackshear pursued an interest in art throughout high school, securing a scholarship to the Institute of Art in Chicago. After a year there, he transferred to the nearby Academy of Art on another scholarship. While finishing his college education, he was recruited by Hallmark Cards. Thomas Blackshear and his wife, Ami, now live in Colorado. A much-honored painter, Blackshear has received many awards, including the Society of Illustrators's coveted Gold Metal. His highly awarded work also appeared in the Society of Illustrators Annuals and Outstanding American Illustrators Today, Volume Two.
