Description

This art print is from Kadir Nelson's critically-acclaimed book, Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African Americans. Nelson paints the contemplative and soulful leader of a country at war with itself. With battle-weary eyes, president Abraham Lincoln sits, gently holding his spectacles as he looks on. The weight of holding together the fragile Union rested heavily on the shoulders of our sixteenth president. With great skill and grace, Lincoln led the country through one of its most difficult struggles-- the bloodiest war in the countrys history and the end of American slavery.
