Some of the greatest work you will ever do will happen when nobody is clapping. The Tuskegee Airmen flew for a country that would not let them eat at the same table, and they flew with excellence anyway. Do not wait for applause to be great. Exceed the expectations, and let the recognition catch up to you.
About This Poster
This Unsung Heroes motivational poster features a group photograph of the Tuskegee Airmen, with a message about exceeding expectations when little recognition is given. The open edition poster is printed on paper and ready for framing or display as is.
The message printed on the poster reads:
The ultimate judge of a person's character is their ability to exceed expectations when little recognition or praise is given.
The History Behind the Image
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Training began at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama in 1941, and nearly 1,000 pilots earned their wings by 1946. The 99th Fighter Squadron and the 332nd Fighter Group, commanded by Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., flew combat missions over North Africa and Europe, and the red-painted tails of their P-51 Mustangs earned them the name "Red Tails." In 2007, the Tuskegee Airmen were collectively awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.
